The timber walls of the Meadow Cottage are 260 mm thick, which is considerably more than the logs used in the construction of single-family houses, which are 200 mm thick.
The timber wall also serves as a carbon sink, which means that carbon is sequestered in the wood.
In fact, wood contains 212 kilograms of carbon per cubic metre, and as the café buildings consist of a total of 110 cubic metres of wooden material, their carbon sink totals 23,320 kilograms.
